Champions Basketball League is a fan-focused sports marketing company, featuring players straight from the NBA.  We will host a 12-team professional summer basketball league in July and August, with a September college-style ‘Winner Takes All’ Championship tournament, all providing competitive play at affordable prices.  Champions gives fans affordable access to the players they love – and it extends the careers (on and off the court) of the greatest basketball players in the world. 

Champions Basketball League will host charity events, camps and community-based programs in all 50 states and connect fans and athletes through a bold new sports marketing model, with tickets priced at $25 that includes a meet and greet and a pre-game youth shoot out around with the players.

Summary

The Vice President - Sponsorship will be focused on developing and activating partnerships with local and regional brands for the New York based Champions Basketball League franchise the Gotham Ballers.

The perfect candidate has a knowledge and passion for creating winning sponsor programs and a track record of success with other franchises. This person is driven, passionate, organized, socially responsible, and possesses a personal goal of becoming an Executive in the professional sports Industry at the highest level.

The Vice President’s primary roles include:  Actively prospecting, proposing, contracting and activating new partnerships.

 

Responsibilities

 Management:

·      Leadership - engage, develop, clearly align roles with goals, and ensure accountability

·      Communication – Clearly and consistently communicate business-critical information with fellow team employees to ensure success.

·      Reporting -  Work closely with ownership and league officials to report sponsorship revenue, activation updates and key performance metrics.

 

Revenue Management:

·         Lead the development, planning and negotiation of advertising, sponsorship opportunities for the organization

·         Utilize networking expertise to identify and develop new clients and prospects

·         Manage the search for new prospects, presenting packages, nurturing negotiations and closing proposals

·      Oversee the development of new sponsor related assets while managing existing inventory

·      Lead the development, planning and negotiation of advertising, sponsorship opportunities for the organization

·      Utilize networking expertise to identify and develop new clients and prospects

·      Manage the search for new prospects, presenting packages, nurturing negotiations and closing proposals

·      Craft sales presentations that creatively leverage team sponsorship assets to meet and exceed the goals of partners.

·      Develop and implement sales plan; Actively manage defined CRM system

·      Oversee the Marketing Activation team to ensure full value of sponsors association with the team is being realized

·      Responsible for achieving established revenue goals and budgets

 

 Qualifications and Experience

·         Bachelors degree in Sports or Business Administration or equivalent. Master’s degree in Business Administration or Sports Administration is a plus

·         Minimum of 5 years’ experience working within the sports and entertainment industry

·         Entrepreneurial mentality and spirit a must

·         Energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image

·         Superior communication skills

·         Collaborative with strong interpersonal and leadership skills ability to select, engage, delegate, develop team; effective at managing conflict

·         Strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus

·         Intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent communication skills

·         Well organized and self-directed individual who is politically savvy and possesses experience with strong local community interaction

·         Excellent negotiator who is experienced in contract development

·         Strong business acumen and financial knowledge

·         Ability to select, engage, delegate, develop team; effective at managing conflict

·         Ability to work independently and/or with very little supervision

·         Willingness and ability to work long hours, including holidays and weekends as required
